But my Uncle is running the new vista that was supplied to him from his employer, and he is running DirectX10 on what i belive is a 6600 or 6800. Whats up with that? Please not stupid answers.

Well, that video card is compliant with DirectX 10. However that compliace only means that games that run specifically on Direct X10 (For example the soon to be released Crysis.) will run on that video card. However since that video doesn't support all the new features that Direct X10 has (Which the GeForce8800 has.) , it will be missing certain graphical effects.

Are you completely sure?
Maybe it's just another version of direct X or direct X is only emulated by the video card(through Vista of course).
One thing is sure though: Only the 8800GTS/GTX can fully support the benefits of a Direct X 10.

Hey there Dude,

Direct X is nothing more than a set of API's that Microsoft came up with for developers to write drivers for.

So, what I think you are finding is that the hardware manufacturers are lagging behing a bit in writing drivers capable of working in windows Vista, to do all of those cool things.

Don't worry, there are a bunch of generic drivers that Vista has that allow them to work.

Good luck my friend.

The current word is that DX 10 is available only with VISTA, and not with anything else , no downloads etc
