We have had an adenium plant for 7 years now, and its an indoor plant kept in a balcony. over the years it has grown really tall and it looks more like a palm tree... but it flowers well. I want to know if it ll grow bushy if i pruned some of its branches that are growing skyward.. or if that ll kill the plant. also can anybody tell me how to propagate it using cuttings ?
thanks.

Beautiful specimine. You can root cuttings; dip in rooting hormone, plunk in soil, place in zip type storage bag. When you see new leaves, you have roots. Here is a very interesting link:

Yes you can trim the edges to keep it bonsai-like. Cuttings root easily in summer but they would not have the plump caudex (that bulgy stem at the base). You need to propagate from seed to have a caudex. Seed grow very quickly and you will have a nice small plant/s in a few months. there are several varieties of flower. Pink, red white etc and several other species of adenium such as arabicum, somaliense and multiflorum. Sow the seed in spring or summer or in a propagator in winter. I like to sow Adenium seed by burying the match-like seed vertically, just covered in compost. I have 100 per cent germination. Keep the seedling moist. good luck.
Also: If the Adenium you have is producing the horned like fruit. cover it with Lycra so that the seeds will not fly away when the fruit split because they have a wind-blown mechanism to travel very far. Otherwise buy seeds through the Internet. they are not cheap but worthed.

firstly if you wont to plant to grow bushy cut the shoot apex the top of the plant tip about 2-5 inch off this will help promote bushy growth.

take cutting from the side shots about 3 inches long

remove the lower leaves. if leaves are big cut in half this will reduce water loss.

place cutting in rooting hormone this help with rooting

plant in a free draining media keep well watered but not to much.

then put it in propegator. should root within 2-4 weeks
