The tough thing about collecting early Harry Potter editions is that it being an English series the true first editions are published in England and after the first two books even the first editions were published in such large numbers that they have very little collectibility value. You can look online at ABE.com and ADDALL.com to see what used and antiquarian dealers are selling it for. Oh yeah, the original title of the first book was Harry potter and the philosopher's stone. Good luck.

Nope, not a gold mine. Too many of those were printed. However, some buyers in the US would like to have nice British editions, so you could probably sell them for slightly more than list. Try www.abebooks.com to get a feel for the kind of money people are getting for them.

Now, if you had a children's first edition of Philosopher's Stone, that would be worth quite a bit...

I'd start with Ebay, do a search on Completed auctions. They might not be worth much yet - the books are too new, and still depreciating. It's not like they are limited edition, even if they are hardback.

Try looking on abebooks.com to see how much other people are selling their copies for. My guess is that they aren't worth much at all, unless they are signed. Millions of the books were printed.
