I laugh at the Republicans
'Cause they lost major clout
From ethics violations
Which they thought they had to flout.
I have no Fix-It for you
No solution will I tout
Except to bag this and go fish
My favorite kind is trout
I learned about it from my friend
Who was a girl scout
She doesn't fish much anymore
Her feet both ache from gout
We dated just a couple times
But she would not put out.

out, pout, doubt, about are probably the most flexible for use in your sad poem.
others are:
lout, tout, stout, snout, rout, gout
you could use something like "shroud" also.
