i should know this because I'm a volunteer police cadet, any way it is not compulsory to wear a helmet in the UK but it is frowned upon it is soon becoming law so I suggest that you do wear a helmet

I would recommend u wear a helmet on any bike :) lol. But it isnt mandotary on a bicycle... on a motorbike it is.
