30 seconds to one minute at most. Idling a car to warm it up is both unnecessary and very hard on the engine. It will warm up much more quickly by driving it gently than letting it idle.

30 seconds to a minute would be fine. Start out slowly if possible. Longer warmups are only useful if you need thawing power for the windshield, it doesn't benefit the engine any.

Just until the needle on the gauge starts to move, or until warm air is coming out of the heater, whichever comes first.

it takes 15-20 minutes for the engine to warm up while sitting and idling.

You need to buy a car with all wheel drive so you're not guzzling gas in that SUV.
