People who are proud and secure with themselves do not announce it.
Only insecure people do...
Be honest with your insecure self and admit it.

i do not agree with your question.
although i am not white, there is a HUGE difference between being proud and being racist.
people can be proud without hating other races. and you can be proud of your race, WITHOUT making negative comments about others. please note of the difference.
i am in no way saying that is what you do, i am just trying to point out to you the difference between pride and racism.
personally, growing up being a mix of a lot different races, i learned the hard way. my only parent that i know is majority african american, yet because of my light skin and soft hair, i don't even look like her child. and attending a predominantly black school, i never fit in because i couldn't identify with a single race.
i was never just that black girl, or that irish girl, or that american indian girl, i was just me!
so i learned to accept people for who they are as an INDIVIDUAL, and not, group everyone together.
i agree with the person who said that there is no reason to take pride in something that you had no part in, just because your skin is the same color.
because if that is the case, you should research all of the NEGATIVE things that your race has done as well, and be proud of that too. are you?
just please be proud of YOU AND YOU ONLY, because besides all of the amazing accomplishments that EVERY race has made throughout history, there all also things that EVERY race has done, that you should not be so proud of.
when someone goes around publicly voicing how proud they are, it gives off a negative vibe, no matter what they are speaking of.
proud people know what is true in their heart, and should feel no need to voice it.
so if you are truly proud, then let it be.
no one should call you a racist, unless you INSULT other races, so be careful of how you show your pride, because it can be mistaken!!

it's really not. let's review
1. my friend let's call him Alex, is proud to be white. he completely understands white privilege. he prefers white skin, even though there are some in other races he finds attractive. he loves celebrating Oktoberfest and st paddy's day even though he's neither German or Irish (at least not fully).
2. however Alex doesn't go around suggesting that all blacks are lazy and dumb. He doesn't assume all Asians are smart. he doesn't like the image of blacks on TV, and will freely admit I'm one of his few black friends because i defy the stereotype. He wouldn't wonder why i'm at Oktoberfest with him, and Never EVER suggested i only got into a good school because of AA, even jokingly.
3. he understands that blacks can't get a good haircut in a white salon. he gets that blacks can't live comfortably everywhere in America. he knows what "ashy" is. he knows what a "perm" is. etc. He notice(d) that there were no blacks on Friends
many whites aren't like this. their pride is tied up in hatred. They can't say "it's nice to be white" without it then adding "because blacks are stupid and lazy, and Latinos don't speak English, so I'm glad to not be them" etc. If more could, it would be GREAT for everyone.
now, some groups are going to complain, because every time they've seen white pride, it usually meant sheets and crosses on fire. but if it could be done, then great. but the only, ONE instance i've seen was Roger William's white scholarship, and racists tried to take that over too.

I am white, I am neither proud nor ashamed of this fact. White is merely the color of my skin. I am proud of many things, my kids, my Wife for putting up with me, my accomplishments, and there are many other examples of what I am proud of. I want to say that the poster before me Smm is right on and if more people thought like her and her friend that she mentioned this would be a stronger America. I was raised between a Mexican and a Black neighbor hood in downtown fresno CA. I was descreminated against, I ran for my life on many occasions, because of gangs and the fact that I am white. There were never more than 4 or 5 white kids in my school at one time until I reached high school. So I do understand how it feels to be one of the only people in an area who is different, and treated differently, sometimes with hostility, because of the color of my skin. My people were never slave owners, they were cotton pickers and farmers, and I had a greatgrandfather who was a carpenter. We were poor and worked for our selves.Stereotypes are over rated. I believe in the United ***** College Fund it helps people to succeed. These kinds of programs are helpful to not only the people that are helped out of the ghetto but also for the entire United States these kinds of programs help Americans become strong educated members of society.I believe in any program that helps under privielaged people of any race, creed, or color succeed. If you are well off of any color then you don't need any of these programs. If you are poor then there are many programs to help no matter what your color or your gender is.Don't have pride in the color of your skin have pride in your accomplishments, and help others succeed. We are all Americans.

I don't think it is pride so much as it is a sense of trying to overcome marginalisation. White people have never been marginalised by other ethnic groups throughout history - blacks endured slavery, Indians suffered through genocide. The fact that groups like these today proclaim a certain degree of pride speaks from the history which they endured. There is a Black Entertainment channel cause really - most of the media is dominated by white people.. ***** College Fund - cause most of the opportunities in the past have alienated black scholars. Your history of segregation in schools prompted this.
Minorities in your country have endured a lot and when they have achieved greatness, I think they have every right to celebrate that.
I don't think it is a double standard - it is differences in background and maybe it is a bit sad that you don't recognise that.
And noone is stopping you from being proud of your background but don't get it mixed up with arrogance.

Because people think that as soon as you say you are proud of being white you are trying to assume superiority over others. Sadly white people seem to be the ones that are always blamed for being racist, when in actual fact I have found in every day life it is more often the other way around. White people have to be politically correct or risk being sued, where as anyone else can say what they like. I hate racism or nationalism of all forms, and don't see why people can't just accept people for being people, rather than ever bringing colour or race into it.

Could be the association that the white pride movement has with violence. That may be a big part of it. Until people like yourself who are nonviolent and don't mean harm to anyone by pride stand up and denounce the racist form of "white pride," people will still make that association.
I'm half Native, half Irish, but I like them both equally ;)

Most people that whinge about racism are idiots. They are generally bleeding hearts that dont have a clue what racism is and will call you a racist if you order a black coffee. These are the people that cause problems not the so called racists, they cause all the problems because they are always running around yelling and sceaming about this person is a racist and that person is a racist making everyone feel insecure.

I've read some of your other responses it's obvious you have issues with anyone not like you. Meaning minorities or otherwise. All these programs mentioned were implemented to level the playing field for minorities. Why? Because whites in America have been privileged and catered to for centuries and have always called the shots. And yes I'm white and American and have no idea what it's like to be discriminated against. Nor do you. You have issues and that's your business but you sound like an idiot when you publish them in a public forum.

I kinda noticed this, even though I'm not 100% white. I just think society tries too hard to be politically correct, even though it's stupid... But hey atleast you got St. Patricks Day...which I guess could celebrate those of Irish descendence...
