Hello Dudette,

Get this, and you are a billionare. :)

Seriously, there are things out there called proxy filters, where you can point your computer to, and get "filters".

Many of these filters are "pay for" services so they are not free. http://www.family.net

There are also programs that you can install on your computer that will filter web sites. NetNanny, Cyberpatrol, SurfControl, and about a billion other ones.

There is a big difference between these two. The first one is held off-site, and maintained by a 3rd party. If you have your computer set-up correctly, everything you surf will go through this filter, without exception. However, this could be a bad thing. Some things that you may want unblocked may be blocked. For example "Chicken Breast" Because "Breast" is a part of your search, you might not get to it.
Proxy's are usually the better way to go, especially if there is an over-ride feature.

The latter is a bit more complicated. You have to download a piece of software to your computer, and update it ALL the time. Porn and other people are constantly moving around the web, trying not to get caught. You have to keep these systems up-to-date.

What this means also is that you have another piece of software running on your computer taking up resources. Plus, since it is running locally, anyone (virtually) can bypass it at any time.

One thing to consider, NO FILTER IS 100%. At best I would guess that filters are about 60% to 80% effective.

Good luck.

Tom
