Lots of "aging" PDA's still have software made for them. In fact, Palm OS 4 has the most programs that run natively on it than any other PDA platform today.

The only benefits you gain by getting a new one are basically limited. You can run powerful applications on newer palms, but those are generally media players. If you have a video iPod or portable media center, don't bother getting a new one. Other than media players, you get the ability to surf the web or run programs that need ridiculous amounts of processor power. Surfing the web on a Palm TX stinks, but if you use an instant messenger, it works great!
