Web Design.
Social Workers are badly treated, poorly paid, VERY over worked (100 hours a week is normal) and get a LOT of bad press.

What do you enjoy more? Web design is a skill that would definately make you more money than social work, but it is a field that is becoming very saturated. Everyone does web design now and the software programs out there make it very easy even for the novice users. To really succeed in this business you have to be very good.
Social work on the other hand has very few benefits other than personal satisfaction that you're helping others. It's heartwrenching at times, the politics, rules and regulations often leave you hands tied when you really want to help...low pay...long hours.
Why not study something more generic such as business or marketing. This could open doors for you in many areas.
Whatever you decide I'm proud of you that you are going to further your education. This is really important in the job market. Good luck.

They are certainly very different fields. You might consider studying both and seeing which one appeals to you more. In the end you may be able to combine them doing webdesign in the human services field. My colleague is doing much of the training of social workers via an online webbased system. He is a social worker who taught himself web design.

If money is a consideration, and you have the aptitudes for both, go for web design. Social work is vastly UNDERPAID.

Do you want money or job satisfaction? Do you want office work, or to be out and about? What do YOU enjoy? What do YOU want out of life? No-one can make this decision for you. Bear in mind, though, if you try one and it's not what you want, it's never too late to re-train.
