No, I don't like it either. Julia Robert's attempt at a southern accent is just awful. She should of checked with a real southern woman to hear how we speak!

Im from a non english back ground and my childhood was spent in a non hollywood movies' country.
So for me to decide to choose to see a movie is simple, has to have a good caste.
Steel magnolious has all the women from the past and present high profiles but the movie surely disappoints me each time i see it on the TV or Fox
So I am with you hundred percent.

You are NOT the only one. That movie is just pandering to the audience. Know what I think is the worst movie of all time? Dirty Dancing. And I am a girl! Every time I say that, I feel like I am going to get stoned.

Im sure you're not, but I actually loved that movie. Julia Roberts did suck in it, along with the guy who played her husband. But I thought it was hecka funny and sad at the same time.

you might be. and for someones info julia roberts is from the south..she was born in Smyma, Georgia..hers is a middle class southern accent. where as the charaters of truvy and her husband and the part played by daryl hannah are lower class..
