I understand that King did great things for black people but what did he ever do for me? or most people? It doesn't take a hero to stand up for your own family or your own people. What did he ever do for America or the world as a whole? It is very natural for someone to want to improve conditions for themselves.
Take the average KKK member who never lynched anyone who doesn't harass anyone did King do anything more than him?
I dont want to hear any racial harmony BS or liberal better world for all races horse crap. What did he do?? I dont think he did a damn thing for me or almost anyone...

Nothing. At the time he was considered by the public as nothing but a guy continuously stirring s***. He was a direct cause of some of the rioting & after he was shot. The media made a martr out of him.

Quite honestly, Dr. King's passion for equality/harmony did much to ensure that you can sit at your machine and write on this site. Sure, you didn't stand shoulder to shoulder with him on his Freedom March and you may not have stood in the crowd on the Washington Mall listening to his I have a Dream speech....but think about all those who were...perhaps they inspired someone who inspired someone you know?
Secondly....you're thinking is extremely provincial and small-minded...think outside yourself, think outside your own little world.
Finally, there were/are no average KKK members...they were all below average, scared people hiding behind a cloak.

He peacefully worked for equality between the races.
Otherwise it could have been a very violent disaster. Having Malcolm X run the show would have probably be a horrendous catastrophe. There could have been civil war. You could have been raised without grandparents...or never have been born because your grandparents didn't get a chance to reproduce. What a shame.

He did nothing. He was a womanizer and was heavily involved with the communists. He only has a holiday so the black people wont whine and scream so much.

Without equality between races there would be no reason for equality between sexes. If you have a 'man's job' then be thankful to King for trying to bring equality to everyone.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING RIGHT.
HE WON THE NOBEL PEACE AWARD. IM NOT FOR KKK.
BUT MLK EARNED THIS HOLIDAY. HE WAS THE EPITOMY OF
WHAT WE ALL WANT, EQUALITY AND PEACE.
TO NOT BE JUDGED, TO BE FRIENDS TO BE TREATED AS
HUMAN BEINGS. TO BE ACCEPTED. HIS PROTESTS
WERE PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATIONS, UNLIKE WHAT THEY ARE TODAY.
SO YEAH MLK JR HAS EARNED THIS HOLIDAY.
GOD BLESS HIS SOUL AND HIS FAMILY
