I would have to enquire as to the context of this message.
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that this message was probably in answer to a statement such as "It's not fair," to which the response "La vie n'est pas!" would mean 'Life is not!'
On it's own, 'La vie n'est pas' is a fragment and does not make sense.
To those who think that it means 'That's life,' you are wrong, I'm afraid. This would be "C'est la vie." Also, to change the word order for this phrase and still be grammatically correct in French, one would have to alter the wording itself, such as:
La vie n'est pas = Ce n'est pas la vie = La vie, ce n'est pas.

you need more context for it to make sense, but it probably was meant to mean "that's life".
