I've never witnessed that type of reaction myself. I'd definitely think there was some sort of family dysfunction involved. Most people I've talked to, online and in person, have made it very clear they will teach their children the 'family' religion but allow them to choose their own paths in the end. I think the nasty reaction you mention is actually quite rare.

It would be rather sad if that kind of reaction passes for communication in some families, don't you think?

Well as a parent I will say you shouldn't judge everyone by the actions of a few. If I had a daughter I would be worried as to him taking her far away or trying to make her conform to his religious views (if he had religious views) I would worry about it being socially accepted. (ok no one beat me up for that sentence) but lets face it years ago it was not socially acceptable for black to marry white.. I didn't say it was right but that is how it was for the most part and I think in todays society that now has switched to muslium. I think if they choose to marry someone I wouldn't care if they were green with yellow polka dots as long as they were good to my child

sweety>> any parent should react when his child will marry, they don't see like it's a good thing to do while it's keeping theire children away and they don't want to share them with anyone else,

about your thought maybe if you looked around you will see that anybody whoever he is, doesn't accept the idea of the entarace of a new culture on his, no body ,,, it will be hard on both of them, and it's natural well how about two deffirent religion,?

think about it...

I think after 9/11 the word "muslim" is taboo.....what people have to realize is there are good christians and bad christians just like there are good muslims and bad muslims or extremeists like Bin Laden. People just do not understand.

Don't kid your self, muslim women in the UK have been murdered for not marrying the man of their families wishes.A lot of muslims would cut their families off for marrying outside their faith, unlike other religions.

i am just not religious at all...marrying someone who held strong relgious beliefs would be something i really would have t give a huge amount of thought....opposing views when they matter so much to the individual and yourself can be hard to overcome...x

I didn't know it was a problem different than any other religion outside of the family.
