There's never a safe time to have unprotected sex. You can get pregnant at any time, even during a period - despite what people say.
And don't forget abou the risk of STD's too.

Well to be honest it is never safe to have unprotected sex unless you are married. I'm not trying to sound like a mom to you or anything but there is a lot of nasty things out there you can get. Now having said that most woman are fertile 14 days after the first day of the last period. So before that you should be ok and a week after that you should be ok.

count 14 days from the day you started you period and that is when you are fertile. So if you started on the 13th of January you are fertile starting on the 27th of January.

In order for a woman to get pregnant, sperm must be introduced early in her "fertile" time, which is rather reliably marked by "fertile mucus". The sperm must have slippery mucus to swim in up to the place where the egg must be fertilized in order for a pregnancy to occur. The first five days after the period would be reasonable "safe" from the probability of conception, but as with any rule, there have been exceptions. (Like gun safety, don't point it, unless you want to hit the target)

I used the rhythm method when I was a teenager because the females I was with couldn't afford birth control, so I'd teach them that method.

Yes the first week after the period is safe, actually the bad time is the week before and the other three are ok.

After the lady's menopause. Otherwise, as the others have pointed out, there is no guarantee that any "rhythm method" will insure non-pregnancy. Sperm can stick around for days, looking for an egg, and eggs have been known to ovulate at various times, even in women with regular periods. Only when all the eggs are GONE, could you say it is safe.

You can get pregnant ANYTIME. (And std's or aids). DO NOT RISK IT!! I was one of those people that thought "it would never happen to me..." and guess what!! suprise, it did.
so, the time you can most get pregnant is 10-17 days after your period. but you can even get pregnant while on your period, or 5 days before, or 5 days after, or whatever!

Be careful and you should just get on birth control or use condoms... but be extra careful during days 10-17... good luck

I got pregnant with my daughter the day after my period ended. The safest time to have sex is anytime you are using a condom and/or birth control :) Unless you are trying to get pregnant, because that can happen anytime :)

I've just found this site www.ovulation-calculater.com, there you can find info about calender method and ovulation cycle BUT your last period is not enough to predict your exact ovulation cycle, you'll need your detailed menstruation history and also it's not enough to predict safe days too. PLEASE, it's 2000's now, forget about grandmother methods, go to a doctor and get information about birth control methods, he/she will help you to choose the most convenient for you.

There is never a safe time to have unprotected sex. I got pregnant with my third child during a "safe" time. You can only play with a loaded gun for so long. I love my third child and can not imagine my life without him.

There is no safe time to have unprotected sex, you can get pregnant any time of the month!!!! (Not to mention STDs) If you don't want to get pregnant than use birth control.
