Go to a vet office and ask if you could talk with some people there. They would probably appreciate the help and will ask you to become an intern. This will definitely help you take that course you need to be a veterinary nurse. Good luck!

I used to work as a veterinary nurse. I started by getting a work experience placement when I was at school with a local practice. A weeks work experience at a certain age was compulsory when I was at school and usually local business will have let the school know if they are happy to accept students, although if you want to work at a place that is not registered with your school you can usually write to them and request a placement independently. After that I approached the surgery and asked if I could help out part time; I used work on a Saturday and do jobs like cleaning, helping with the consultations, counting out pills/prescriptions, feeding and ensuring the animals were clean and safe in their cages etc. When I left school I managed to get a full time job as a trainee nurse at the same practice. The experience Will be invaluable in getting yourself a training position and you will be taken much more seriously when applying for jobs.
If you cannot find a practice to take you on in this way try applying at kennels, animal sanctuaries etc. You can also take a small animal care course (colleges such as Lackham and Sparsholt run them), which is a kind of pre nursing course.
Good luck - veterinary nursing is such a rewarding and interesting career (just be prepared to work hard for not very much money!)

when I went for the paintings journey element for an afternoon, i did not do too a lot yet watch them do a touch dental paintings on the canines and watch the vets do surgical treatment. The surgical treatment changed into so cool to video show. the position the position i changed into at let me stand contained in the nook and watch them, lol. It changed into tremendous. It basically relies upon on what the hospital has planned that day and the range of appointments that were made.

Offering to volunteer your services is usually the best bet as it creates a win win situation and you can get a reference after-wards. It is also good for you to ensure that you have picked the right course before committing your time, money and energy only to realize its not your cup of tea down the line. Try locate an animal welfare charity and you will gain a world of experience and be exposed to the worst possible scenarios.

you can start sending out letters to any local veterinary practices near you. explain to them that you are looking for work experience and that you are interested in pursuing the career. most of the time people are happy to help.

Why not volunteer with a local animal shelter or RSPCA unit - they always need volunteers and you'll get plenty of experience.
