what does the tissue lost during one look like and exactly how much bleeding is there/ how long is one typically last?

I took a test and it was positive. I should be about 6 weeks along. I began getting a consistant cramping in my lower back and abdomen for the past day along with heavy bleeding with stringy substance mixed in. Is this most likely a miscarriage?

You need to go to the ER or see if your doctor can see you right away. You are having a miscarrige and you need to be see by a doctor.

Probably. I'm sorry.

But it isn't positive, either, so you do need to take some precautions. Generally, a miscarriage passes a clot of tissue (not very big, but feels really funky). Personally, I recommend a doctor. (Of course, that's because I felt like I was dying, but that's just me. I'm a wuss.) Your body can handle an early miscarriage on it's own, but a doctor can tell you for certain if that's what it was.

If not, wait three days for the hormone levels in your blood to go down, and take a pregnancy test. If it's negative, you're OK. If it's positive, go to the doctor and get everything checked out, because that means you're probably still pregnant, and that potentially there could be something wrong.

Just remember, it's not a hundred percent. Take it easy and don't overdue anything, as that could hurt YOU. Good luck.

The "bed" on the uterus wall that recieves the egg doesn't change much for quite some time, so a spontaneous miscarriage is about 6 weeks would look very much like a "period". It sounds like that is what you had. Warm compresses often aid the discomfort of the cramping. If you had a miscarriage then the hormone levels will come back down over the next few days.

I miscarried at 8 weeks, and I actually passed a clot / bloody tissue clump that was about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. Then I had a normal period. Your body should be able to miscarry by itself, but afterwards, you might want to go into a doctor and make sure it all happened correctly. If it doesn't, they may need to scrape your uterus, called a d&c. Good luck & I'm sorry this happened =(

If you don't go into the doctor's, after about 4-5 days, take another pregnancy test... this will be accurate. Since you already got a (+) test, then the hormone level HCG will take about 3 days to reduce back to normal if it was a miscarriage. If you take a pregnancy test and it is (+) again, I would suggest seeing your doctor because it means you are still pregnant but did bleed--- so it needs to be checked out.

I was not seen by a doctor when I had mine. I called the dr office, but they said at this early of a time into the pregnancy, your body will be able to take care of it on it's own. (If you are a healthy woman between 17-38)

I am sorry to say that it does sound like you have miscarried. I have had 5 of them and what you are describing sounds like what had happened to me every time. I would start getting some cramps and then start to spot bleed. After a day of that I would get it more heavy and once you do notice that there are clots in the blood then it is a miscarriage.Considering that you are 6 weeks you shouldn't need a DNC if you don't want one because your body will clear itself out but you do want to call your Dr. to make sure that your not hemorrhaging and that you do pass everything. If you did have a DNC it will clean it all out for you in one shot and you won't be cramping and having the big clots that your experiencing now. Also, after a DNC you will become very fertile because your completely cleaned out . I got pregnant again one month after mine . They are very emotionally draining and I am sorry, I do hope that you call your Dr. to make sure that your alright and to make sure that is what it is and not something else that can really hurt you.Best of wishes to you.

I've had 3 miscarriages and I'm afraid it sounds like you're having one as well. You need to see a doctor or go to the hospital asap, as there are chances of complications caused by a miscarriage including internal bleeding (to you) and ruptured uterus. This needs to be checked out by a medical professional now. Sorrry about your loss.
