You didn't call to let them know? Oops... Could you say someone was supposed to ring in for you and they didn't? You could get into really big trouble here so need to be clever... Grovelling might help - just say you were ill - food poisoning (upset stomach) is usually a good one as it cannot be proved and is probably only for 24 hours... Say you couldn't leave the toilet and therefore asked X to ring in on your behalf and you are sorry if they didn't do it.

Tell them that you had a lie in, got up late, didn't fancy going in to work, couldn't be bothered to call in sick, then spent lots of time on Yahoo questions trying to find a solution to the mess you have got yourself in. You should be looking for a job by the end of the week then. Good Luck.

Either, as somebody else said, you were up all night and only just woke up OR you had to go to the dental hospital and they gave you an injection in the gum/mouth and you couldn't talk.

I couldn't come to work because the knives said I had to clean them today. Call, why didn't I call, oh no, the knives wouldn't have liked that, they say they don't like me using the phone, they say I don't need anyone but them.

Just go into work as normal and say nothing. When they eventually pull you aside and say what happened to you yesterday just say either
1. did you not get my message? i phoned in. just be adimant and nthey will think its amistake at their end.
2. say it was a gaenological prob and start crying.
3. say your mums jbeen sick. start crying ans make it look like it might go on for awhile
4. lower yourself to talking very expicitily about poo

Why did you do that?! It sounds as if you are very irresponsible and now you are looking for a lie to cover this up. Not a good way to go about it!! When you work you and your employer have a duty and responsibility to each other. The least you can do is be honest and start again. Do not build your work relationship on lies - it will not serve you well for the future.

ring now and just say sorry i didnt ring earlier i had been up all night being sick and only got to sleep at about 4 am and ive only just woke this sounds more genuine than saying it tomorrow.
