Usually, from an HR perspective, 90 days is the norm. However, most companies do realize that their employees have emergencies. Here's where it becomes tricky. If you have to call out for a day before your 90 days are up, that should be just fine (although it may raise a few eyebrows). But if you have to call out a second time within your first 90 days, you may suddenly find a big red flag on you. Also, if your reason for calling out is weak at best (say... you have a sore throat or you woke up with sniffles), you can expect that the honeymoon period of a new hire will diminish drastically! hope this helps!

Anything under 90 working days could get you fired, no question.
So unless you are really sick and can provide a written Dr.'s note, I would not do it. That is unless you don't like your new job.
Under 90 working days and the California Labor Law is on the side of the employer, over 90 working days you could fight dismisal.
Use your best judgement

If you are actually sick and would put your coworkers at risk of catching whatever you have you should call in whenever you need to, but if you are just looking for a day off and trying not to get fired, wait at least a month.

Some jobs have a 90 day probationary period, so you'd better check to see if your job does. If not, 5 weeks should be OK.

If you are sick then you should stay home and not endanger the health of youir coworkers. If you arent really sick, then it is not acceptable at all.
