A 60 watt bulb probably won't be strong enough to get the required temperature (90s) given the height of your tank. I'd say a 75 watt would be the smallest to try, and you may need a 100. Get a thermometer and experiment with bulbs you have around the house to find the proper wattage before buying anything. Because these lizards are nocturnal, you don't need to have a UVB bulb (simulates natural radiation form the sun). You could purchase one of the red heat lamps or a "moon glow" bulb, or whatever you use in your house. I would recommend that you get the type of bulb that has a reflective backing, as this will concentrate heat downward (toward the geckos) rather than a "regular" household bulb that radiates heat in all directions. You can get these at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or a local home improvement store- and they will cost less that what pet stores will want. You could also use an under tank heat pad (not a heat rock!) to create/supplement the heat. Here's the website for a store I like for pet supplies: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/index.web and some for general leopard gecko care info: http://www.anapsid.org/leopardgek.html; http://www.wnyherp.org/care-sheets/lizards/leopard-gecko.php

I use a standard 25 watt bulb. Leopard geckos are nocturnal so they don't need any specialised bulbs such as UV bulbs. They don't bask like other lizards. I really only use mine for display purposes as the lighting shows of their colours and gives them a day/night-time routine.
I'd recommend using a heat mat as a heat source rather than the bulb. It's more reliable and gives a more constant temperature.

Go to http://www.petsmart.com or the petsmart stores and buy an under the tank heater. Also get a rheostat (also available at petsmart for $20) so you can adjust the temperatures. It's best to use UTHs instead of bright bulbs as leos are nocturnal. This is all you'll need for heating. http://www.repticzone.com can answer any other questions you have on leopard geckos. There's hundred of experienced leo keepers there that certainly helped me! :)

Light and Temperature : Being nocturnal, require no special UV lighting. A regular incandescent bulb could be used to provide a basking spot, but leopard geckos probably prefer dimmer conditions so consider using a red bulb or ceramic heating element to provide the temperature gradient. Under tank heaters can also be used.
Daytime Temperature: basking spot of 90 F with a gradient to low 80s F
for more info go on our website under the lizard section
Night Temperature: can drop as low as mid 70s F

As leopard Gecko's are nocturnal they dont need any light, either UV or normal, heating is best supplied by a heatmat on a matstat, as they use heat from below to digest thier food, in the wild they would use a rock or something like that, that has been heated by the sun during the day.
search "geckospot" on the web, its a good gecko site.

You can use any bulb but you'll need a thermostat and a cage surrounding it so your pet doesn't burn itself on the hot bulb. Use a 40 watt bulb though. The colour makes no difference. Many pet stores use standard bulbs with thermostats as they are more cost effective. The red bulbs cost more but are less bright so they're better for reptiles eyesight.

They don't need a bulb at all. Save yourself money spent on bulbs and just use an under tank heater.

you MUST have at least a 75 watt sun glo bulb during the day and at least a 100 watt night glo bulb at night. a timer is also a good idea bc then you dont have to switch lights it does it on its own. it needs to be these bulbs bc they tregulate the lizards light in their natural environment. they are also UVB bulbs which are needed so they can digest their food without it they wont be able to digest their food and die.
