No. After he dies, take over Venezuela and fix it. Because the Chavez guy is a lot more dangerous than Havana man - he's very seriously in love with Iran President. Bonus? Plenty of oil in the Orinoco Basin.

No. You don't seem to understand - the US does NOT have the answers. If the US was the perfect country with 100% voter turnout, a tiny crime rate, something like 80% university education, barely if any poverty and complete contentment with their leaders and amongst the people THEN you can go around changing countries to the way you run yours. As it is the US has its own share of problems just like everyone else - you sort out yours and they will sort out theirs. If you want to view it in a selfish way then why should you expend effort, lives and money into a black hole, where people will NOT be greatful? And if you want to be humanitarian then why should you interfere - if people don't change things for themselves then they won't have the societal needs necesary to support the changes implemented by someone else, i.e. if people don't want democracy people will vote in the first elections to have a dictatorship. If Cuba wants democracy and free markets then Cuba will have it - it happened in the USSR and Warsaw pact countries. If they don't then invading them and imposing it simply will not work. Would you sit by and accept it if Cuba invaded the US and imposed Communism?

is Cuba broken?
it has a high literacy rate, 98% vs US's 99%
Our Key Findings
1. Life expectancy is just about the same in both Cuba and the United States. Whether you are born in Havanna or in Miami, you can expect to live 76 years.
2. Among adult Cuban males, the mortality rate is actually lower than in the United States.
3. Cuba's health system provides almost two times the number of physicians per 1,000 people that the United States can supply.
Both the US and Cuba has 7 in 1000 infant mortality rate, but males in Cuba live longer than males in America, an Cuba spends 8.5% of thier GSP on public services vs 6% here, and Cuba has twice as many hospitals and octors per capita than the USA.
Sure, less people are in college in Cuba than the US, but it's partly due to thier social structure.

First, there's another Castro waiting in the wings. Second, we tried a century ago and left them to their own devices. Those who wanted Cuba as a colony or even a state might have had something of a point, as they seem to have struggled from one extreme to another without finding a happy medium in the entire time.

The power struggle there may produce dictator worse than Castro, but if a more moderate leader emerges, the US should resume trade relations with Cuba. If we can trade with China with a government that crushes student uprisings by running over them with tanks, then we can trade with our island neighbor to the South. There should be no US government intervention unless there is an immediate threat to the US's security.

you may not agree that cuba is much better off than your own country but check the record. In many cases "we" can learn from other cultures and countries. In this case hello,, take a closer look ...how many countries does cuba have military forces involved in..how many war fronts are they fighting on, what is the rate of HIV....homosexuality, literacy, genetically engeneered foods, the cancer and heart disease etc.,. Why don't we worry about fixing ourselves...we desperately need repair in so may areas that are literally consuming our human life and morale.

Leave them alone.....Itd be the same as the Iraq War. Leave them to have a dictator-ship country. Let them come to us. The problem with America is they try to help other countrys when they dont want to help, and then they start a war. Lets facec it Cuba and Guam will always be independent from the U.S.A. but renember this, Cuba people are afraid, afraid, but stable. And Hey, their behavior is better than us! We shouldnt mess with their goverment. They dont want help they dont need it. Besides most Cuban people might hate us and they would never want to live in America. Just leave them alone. Wed waste our time.

No. We've tried that before with three consecutive presidents ending with Fulgencio Batista. Didn't work then, won't work now. It is up to the Cubans to fix what THEY deem important in fixing. NOT the US

No. We already tried that in 1962. It was called the "Bay of Pigs" invasion.
The best thing to do with little countries, regardless of their political situation, is to just leave them alone and let them work our their own problems.
