Like how the older version is compiled better. Newer version has more current commentary. All dependent on what your purpose is for gaining knowledge on him. School, personal - historic, a perspective... If I wanted to know more about how he actually thought I would buy something written by him. See source.

I doubt Chaiman Mao had a lot to say after 1976, him being dead and all, so I dont think the most recent book will be different from the earlier editions..... Its always nice to get a new book though isnt it?

In getting books, I suggest always getting the newer edition since it is more up to date (with additional information provided and possible correction of errors whether in typographical form or intellectual form). Go for the new ones. They may be more costly but I am sure that more often than not, intellectual quality will be better.

Get the less expensive version. Mao Zedung (Mao-Tse-Tung) has been dead since 1976. I doubt if he's had any original thoughts since then. ;)
