Talk to someone pronto. A Christian adult if possible. Please make sure that you get help in on this one. If she does commit suicide you want to know that you have done everything in your power to prevent it. Good luck, and ask God for help on this one, He is the master with dealing with these situations. Take care, and please mail me if you anymore questions about this topic.

Ask him for details: why he want to do this, what he expect like result
The real reason for this kind of ideeas can be extremely surprising. The real suicidal persons never speak to much about; they simply do it.
There are some other people who desperately try to win the other attention; they normaly are extremelly egocentric persons, and believe that all the world must turn arround them and everybody must understand and support them, bla bla bla.
If it is your best friend explain him that life is a continuous fight and the ideea to suicide is in vane, specially when we all leaving the live by finished somehow!
So why to suicide if we will daay in the end? That will happend annyway :0)
Good luck with your friend!

I've been through that situation. My close friend would talk about how she doesn't care about herself, that she hates herself, and that she's going to Hell in the hereafter. I spent two months doing everything I could to get her to see the beauty of the world and the things she was sacrificing. In the end I wrote her a long letter, telling her that she is important and needed by the world. I also said that she should care about how devastated her mother would be. I told her that she wouldn't want to do that to the people she loved. She had tears in her eyes when she finished reading it, and told me 'I discovered that life has meaning'. She still has the letter I gave her.

Ask your friend about what's been bothering her. Have meaningful discussions about the meaning of life. Watch upbeat and romantic movies together, and listen to inspirational music together. Do everything you can to make her feel appreciated and loved. Give her genuine compliments about her personality, skills, etc. Don't let her stay by herself at any times. Encourage her to talk to her parents, and then encourage her or to make an appointment with a psychologist.

talk is cheap
give her a razor

peeps that really want to commit suicide just do it, not talk about it. she wants attention.

give her a beer, a cigarette and a B.O.B. tell her to relax and enjoy life.
