Commando, yea you remember that 1985 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is the most popular movie of all time across the globe. in some countries in Africa and Asia, they still refer to Arnold Schwarzenegger as "Commando." Some people also call the main actor in an action movie, " the Commando." All time, the most popular movie in the world. Who hasn't seen that movie? you must have been born after 1995.

It changes with the generations, Citizen Kane was popular in its time but I dont think the new generation really has an idea.
I'd say Godfather series which is still popular and a phonemenon.
When it comes to popularity, Titanic is pretty big since it is the highest grossing movie ever.

Grease! don't laugh, I'm serious! It cannot be denied that it is one of (if not THE) most widly recognised work in history!!! I know that there are other GREATER movies (eg Cit Kane etc) but those aren't the most popular ones. Popularity must be founded on how many people have seen the film or have heard of it.

I think Grease wins hands down! (and I love it :)

I don't know about the rest of the world, but for me, it has to be my favorite, Casablanca. Has a great cast led by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, romance, drama, a terrific song (As Time Goes By).

citizen kane...it attacked a cultural icon...hearst and opened the door for investigative type reporting and stories.

it has a little of something for everyone; war, sex, family life, racial tension, friendship , betrayal, greed, and death. great cast and great story.
