I've been working on these for so long and every time I get close to completing one, I pull out and smack because I see the board and it seems closer than it really is. My coach actually told me to stop after I succeeded because my head was REALLY close the board and when I tried to fix it I just got closer. While I was kind of happy that I didn't have to work on them anymore, now it might be a problem since the week where reverse is the required dive is coming up. Any tips?

I had the same worry when I had to do my inward. It was so scary and I ended up falling on my face, it kinda hurt! Ha-ha.

But anyway. I would first just jump off the board like you would to do your reverse dive and just see how far you are away from the board. If you are a good amount to not worry yourself then just keep in mind that you are far enough from the board and you won't hit it. And when you do do the exercise and you are too close for your comfort, just jump a little further out until you are comfortable and keep doing that until it is permanently in your mind when you do it for the dive. And then just try your dive again.

and just remember that most of the difficult dives that you do, are actually very close but you just don't realize it. Not to freak you out, but you have already gotten into a good routine in which you are far enough from the board in all of your dives.

good luck!!

The diving boards are made to throw you out, away from the board. The chances of hitting the board are slim. Getting over it is when you come in... its all mind over matter, you have to get up there don't think and chuck your dive "like there's no tomorrow" lol!

Good luck!

P.S. what club do you dive with?
