I know this sounds radical, but start to remove the support systems that are in place,It seems that now there are support for just about every thing you can think of, Yes there are truly people that need help, But how many others are abusing the system because they think it is their right to have free education, health care, housing, and that group is getting bigger by the day. I believe that if a person is healthy they should be responsible for their own welfare. Also those who are being subsidized can do volunteer work suitable to their abilities. We should be rewarding those that make an effort to support themselves, and penalizing those that believe that they have the right to live off the backs of those who do work. Can you imagine the economy if we were self supporting, there would be much less money required for taxes to support all the programs that are now in place and our life would be so much better if we stood on our own two feet and looked after our own needs. It would take a few years to wean people off the present support systems but it will have to happen as we as a nation can not carry this burden forever at the rate it is going

First thing first : EDUCATION. The most powerful countries are those that put premium on education. You can't have good infrastructure, such as highways, schools, hospitals without engineers, scientists(who write the textbooks), doctors, nurses, teachers.
2) Social system: The government has to find a way to make it easier to find a job for jobseekers, and also everybody who works must be well rewarded> Nobody's going to work for a long time if they don't feel appreciated. For example: It would be unfair, if those who spent their money and time at school earn the same as or a little bit more than those who are low skilled. It will discourage people from going to scholl and also the high skilled people will go somewhere else, for example immigrate to other country
3) Law enforcement: Everybody likes to live in a safe place, city. Foreign investors will stay away from the palces where the criminal rate is so high. If the place is safe, ( foreign)TOURISTS will come in, meaning more income for the city and country, because tourists USUALLY spend money on accomodation, food, souvenirs
4) Foreign investment; If many foreign investors invest their money in the country, money as well as jobs will flow, there will be jobopenings everywhere.
Summary:
Basically the words: Education, Social system, Law enforcement, tourists, foreign investments/investors are the one I would highlight

To eradicate poverty illiteracy should be eradicated first, illiteracy meaning not only going to school and studying theorically but trying to bring practical education in schools too.As many children like learning practically as they have some hidden talent inside them, instead of having these type of education given only to drop outs or after their education is completed it would be good if these type of programmes are intoduced in school itself.

You can't eradicate it BUT if we became a socialist country there would be a lessening of the great divide in the quality of life for current poor people in this country. Food, shelter, healthcare would be a given for all. Currently its believed that their are 775,000 HOMELESS people, permanently in this country, I'd like to think we could do better by our downtrodden.

There is nothing we can do. It is up to the individual person to achieve that. We provide EVERYONE with an education. What they do is up to them. You can not expect the government to help people with the day to day living. People need to help themselves. Some people lack motivation and drive and just want things given to them. They will never have anything. Others strive to better themselves.
