he is signed on the lease with me and my other housemate, we don't own the house but rent it from a landlady. So we all have an equal right to be there.

Find a place were he can costing almost the same as he is paying now. Then sit with him during the weekend and explain why you want him out.As house mates tell him of the place you have found for him and that if he changes he will be wellcome.Same day help him to pack and escort him to his new place.Once in a while visit him to see how he is doing.

Is this person on the lease or deed? If no, you and the "other" housemate confront him and tell him to leave. Ask for the keys back and change the lock if he gives them or not.

Tell him that the owner is selling up & he has to look for a new place!!! OR go on to some site & get a copy of an eviction notice & put all your details on it!!!he'll have to believe you then! GOOD LUCK

eviction is possible if he has broken something from the rental agreement, if not good luck!
if its your home, then start eliminating things from the home you provide, ie, phone, internet access, dishes, furniture, there always ways to make someone leave.
