ten day old newborn with contipation?

i had my baby ten days a go i have noticed he is becoming constipated. How can i help him? what can i give him to relief the pain.?

Don't give him gripe water as suggested that's for colic. Give him a half strength feed then switch him back 2 normal feeds, for instance if he takes 3oz make up 4oz and put 2 scoops of powder in only do this for 1 feed then return them 2 normal. if ur breastfeeding take him 2 the docs they may advise u 2 give him a wee bit of cooled boiled water. i have had 5 kids so know what its like. good luck. xx

If you are breastfeeding you try eat something like oranges that will relief the constipation since your baby will drink it through your milk. If on formula don't wait for more than 24 hours and give him glycerine suppositories for babies they are very safe and won't cause any pain when he is doing it

Are you breastfeeding? If you are you're going to need to see the ped. He may not being getting enough and they will want to monitor his weight. I don't know about formula feedings, but I would doubt the rules are different.

My daughter was like this when I gave her just a little bit of formula. I exclusively breastfeed now and its a non issue. You need to talk to your doctor and see what they think. They may tell you to switch to a low iron or soy formula...but don't switch without talking to your doc.

Try switching to another type of formula if he's formula fed. Have you tried gripe water? If all else fails, take him to the doctor. Good luck, and congrads.

if he's formula fed start breastfeeding, its not to late to relactate.
if you wont then get used to it, its a common side affect of all formulas. make sure its not a sensitiviety to the formula, and make sure you aren't under diluting it

we where told to use glycrine supositories and 1/2 prune juice and 1/2 watwer
