well......it depents what are you reffering to.
The Andromeda galaxy is "in short distance" to our Galaxy Milkyway, just 2.3 million light years away.......(in comparison with Abel clouster of Galaxies which located 12 billion light years away)

It's all relative, my man. If you're talking about daily life, it could be the 20 ft to the bathroom, or the extra 5 inches your arm needs to be to get the remote. If, on the other hand, you're talking cosmicly. Short and long tend to lose meaning. 98 million miles to the sun seems far, and yet scale things up to galactic scale, and 98 million miles is the smallest fraction of distance. And, if space is infinite, you could make the argument that any distance relative to infinity is a "short distance".

a short distance is defined as the last thing your boss has you do before a promotion, such as walking to the moon, draining a lake with a sieve, or entering your teenage son's room at the end of xmas break and trying to move around the half eaten cow and the small fires that have broken out around the room.
i have walked many short distances, but i suggest you dont even try.

A short distance could be considered: a city block, a mile, down the street, or next door. Usually it implies "within walking distance".

Depends on how you perceive "short" and "long"
but on astronomical terms i guess distance will only be called long if its a lightyear.

a short distance is as short as you want it to be....
mathemathically... it infinity
basically, it really up to you as did not mention the scale.
for instance, you use differrent weather models when you want to know...., the temperature of United States and the temperature of a city in US.
it makes a lot of difference.
be specific
