I think the oldest boarding college in the UK is Westminster School.
It is located next to Westminster Abbey in central London, with a history stretching back beyond the 12th century.
Established in the year 1179, or before and then refounded in 1560.

Winchester College was established in the year 1382:

King’s School in Ely is over 1,000 years old (established 973 AD) and counts King Edward the Confessor as one of its old boys - he died in 1066!

I think it was about 1850 it was a converted tram hence the term boarding school
