They Research the part of astronomy that deals principally with the physics of the universe, including luminosity, density, temperature, and the chemical composition of stars, galaxies, and the interstellar medium.

To add to M Series' the are also researching the mechanics (=movement) of stelar and planetary bodies. gravity and such.
