I think you have spelled it wrong. There no meaning for Brass connected to Prostitutes. I have searched all dictionaries and many other web pages.

I feel you meant "PROS" - It is a short form and slang of prostitute. Instead of telling the full word openly before other people, the practice of calling prostitutes as PROS came.-

I didn't know it did... I thought "the brass" was the cops?

I also thought that brass flute was cockney rhyming slang for suite..
