In answer to the original question. NASA does spend a lot of money. I believe most of the money, time and effort to date has been used to develop technologies for man to survive an extended space trip. I believe that sometime in the future we will actually explore space. As for what it is that we will find is anyone's guess. Does it make better sence to create technologies for space travel to the unknown, or use the same to solve problems right here on the Earth that we live on.

The future of humanity as a whole lies in the universe, in outer space, in other planets...
The truth is, if we don't learn more about the space surrounding the Earth, if we don't probe to find other planets, planets that are suitable for life, humans might not be around "that much longer".
Of course, a cosmic fate wouldn't affect us in our lifetimes (or if it did, all that money "wasted" wouldn't really matter), but it will happen in the future sometimes, and studying and probing now can lead to spreading out in the future.

The world doesn't spend enough on space exploration. The only way for any of us on this world to survive is through colonization of space. After all, this is truly the last frontier.
A better question would be why do we spend all of our precious time and money on genocide?

Im no longer positive how area commute might want to properly be moral or unethical. I dont imagine its a sin. per chance the fee of area commute? per chance spending all that money for area exploration even as it would want to properly be used to help human beings in the international might want to properly be considered unethical by some. If exploring area became by some ability incorrect, I dont imagine we would want to have the ability to quite go away our planet. yet, we are able to go away earth, we are able to land on the moon and different celestial bodies, its virtually intentional. Like we were meant to commute to area. you recognize, in some billion years, the earth is going to be uninhabitable. If we are to proceed to exist as a species, were going to ought to seek for yet another position to stay. the in reality way for that to ensue is that if we come across area. Hmm, thats type of an ethical challenge, isnt it?
