I personally think we should leave him & his family the heck alone, It is none of our business at all......He is going to have enough to deal with as it is, I am sure the kid has been to hel* & back...
He does NOT owe us a darn thing, we were so close to him & no one reconized him, NO one helped him, & NO ONE has the right to judge him.. He did what he had to do to survive, To keep living, & I am so sorry for him & his family, SOOOO many people saw this kid everyday & did nothing, Nothing at all to help him & I feel so bad for that, Him or his family do NOT owe the public anything at all... He should not have to explain why he did what he did to anyone but his parnets, & only god knows what this devlin guy told him, Poor kid, I hope everyone including the media leaves him alone, so he can try his hardest to put this behind him & try to have a half way normal life..................

Agreed! Let's just be happy that one of these horrible stories ended well and leave the family recover in peace.

Here's where knowledge is relevant - 13yr old Ben had only been at that residence for days, Mr. Devlin had a regular job to go to, Shawn was essentially free to come and go. Now who in that household was going to oversee that young Ben was to be held securely there and also did Devlin have assistance in kidnapping Ben. Details like these need to be considered. Most parents and law enforcement would want to know what was involved in the disappearance and holding of the young boy Ben - hopefully it was all on Mr. Devlin - but look into the whole case.
One example, years ago Patty Hearst was kidnapped by activists but eventually joined their cause and remained even though she had plenty of opportunities to escape, Patty later helped them rob a bank of her own free will which she was sent to prison for. Now she may have been brain-washed at first but she eventually knew right from wrong.
No telling how long 13yr old Ben would have been kept there if someone hadn't spotted the white truck.
Shawn had made many friends and lived in open sight, apparently he had accounts on several social websites where he posted his picture and messages.

Agree. Only his parents should know. I do disagree with how they keep saying "he'll tell us when he's ready" If my kid was gone 4 years, you best beleive he'd be answering some questions. Thats a bunch of bull some psychologist told them. Ask your kid the questions!! He needs to tell you where the hell he's been.

But as for the public, yes its not our business.
