I'm almost 15, I'm extremely overweight and have focusing problems. Kids make fun of me at school no matter what . School has made me suicidal, I already cut myself and I can't take it anymore. The legal dropout age here is 18, and I can't wait that long to get out of school. I tried homeschooling, but I have a bad procrastination problem( My mom is at work from noon-4am and my dad leaves at 3am and doesn't get home till 7pm) and have no parents to help me due to their schedules. My mother said she would allow me to drop out and at 16 get my GED, go to a CC and then a vet. school. The thing is, I'm not at legal age to drop out, is there anything I can do? I can't take school anymore, I know it's bad to drop out but it's literally killing me and I'm NOT going back. Anything helpful would be appreciated. Do you think I may be able to convince a judge/ the state to let me legally drop out at my age? I already have good grades and such.
Thanks.

I was reading some other questions and seen it said most states have 16yr old legal drop out ages..
Is this for all if you have parental consent?

Please go get professional help about your suicidal thoughts and about cutting yourself. What kind of focusing problems do you have? Are they the ones where your mind does not stay on the problem at hand or are they the ones where your eyes don't work correctly? If it is the one where your mind strays this would be part of the suicidal thoughts. If it is your eyes go to an eye doctor. Next at 15 you need to get on a serious weight loss program. Get rid of all kinds of snacks and soft drinks. Eat three meals a day and make sure you include plenty of fruits and vegetables. Don't eat fried foods. At your age the weight will just fall off. If you add some kind of exercise it will come off even faster. Dropping out of school is not the answer. You need to go back to your high school and talk to the councilor there. Tell her the problems you have been having and get her advice. You have a good strong ambition but without the proper education you will not make it, a GED is not a diploma and even some community colleges will not take it in a diplomas place. School will get you the classes you need to make yourself a standout in college. I hope this helps you.

Please don't drop out. Maybe try another school to transfer to. Procrastination will eat you alive. Nip that problem in th _utt. I had a very similar problem when I was 15. I settled for me GED and went to college. Your problem will get smaller with time. Look for focus and support groups. Hopefully someone will take you by your hand and help you. Look for a true friend, they are hard to find but if you find a good friend stick by them. Maybe your folks have a friend you can talk with. Find someone you trust. Keep looking until you drop. JUST DO NOT GIVE UP!!! you are worth millions to the people that know and love you. Unfortunately you never will know how much you are worth. But My Prayers And hopes are both with you. Try to focus on the good things in life No matter how small or trivial. Someday I know you'll Find peace and happiness. GOOD LUCK!! The people that make fun of you will some day envy you for the strength you get for living through all of this and you will Live through this.

Sorry about the bullies but you cant drop out. As for furthering education if you dont break the habit of procrastination you will never, and i do mean never, go to vet school. I am currently attending UC Davis and was a former procrastinator up until my first quarter here. Then the study proscratination set in and I almost got kicked out. As for suicidal tendencies I beg of you please do not kill yourself and if you ever feel the pressuring need to do so talk to you parents, and if you can't call the anonymous suicide hot line at (1-800-784-2433 AKA 1800Suicide) After all the pain you feel from bulling is nothing compared to the pain your parents will feel when you have taken your own life.

Ok as is seen your dad and mom are not there to assist you. But no, don't you have so many friends on the net. Take this as a starting point. Continue with school. It is a must. Just a few more years to go. Keep communicating with your netted friends and you will get that assurance and strength to continue. Come of it, everyone while going through school has had some hangup or the other. Everyone has still managed to push through which you can and will do too. Keep stong and keep pushing. We are with you.

For the weight problem====> I was overweight too. I was more than 200 pounds for my 5 foot 5 height. The trick to lose weight is that you eat one meal( I eat lunch only) a day. But if you are really really hungry, eat a lot of fruits like apples, grapes, bananas, papayas, pineapples etc., Don't get depressed because of your weight. If the kids from school make fun of you, just go straight to the school principal and tell the principal about the situation. Don't cut yourself and think about committing the suicide. If you get really depressed thinking to commit suicide, call 1800-273-8255(Toll Free) which is the national suicide prevention hotline. You can also visit the website http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/
Tell your parents about your situation and ask them for home schooling. Tell your teachers what happens to you, and they will help you out.

I am sorry teenagers are so mean, but do not drop out! If you have good grades see about finishing school on-line. You may have to transfer to another school to do this, but it may be available. If you drop out you will end up like my friend. She is 39, only went to school through her sophmore year and makes a whopping $10.00 an hour. She is 39! She is not educated and will never have an opportunity to better herself because she is scared to take her GED. She is 39! You do not want this kind of life, she is miserable and refuses to help herself so no one really cares anymore. She is socially retarded and is being kicked out of bars for her behavior. It all stems from not finishing school and socializing. It is important to obtain as much education as you are capeable of. Set some goals to lose weight, seek a counselor, obtain a high level of education and plan to go to your 10 year high school reunion and show those twits how far you have come. I know this seems like the end of the world, but it is only high school and they will be out of your life in 2 years. I know, I hated my high school and wanted out as fast as I could. I earned by education and kissed their asses good-bye. I am now educated and happy and I don't even think of high school anymore.

Sure you can, but why would you want to? You risk screwing up the rest of your life if you do. All of the things you are experiencing now will only last while you are in high school. Believe me, it's a different world out there. At least give yourself a chance. I can safely say that if you don't, you will forever regret it.

I really feel for you. I hated school when I was kid. Teased all the time. But if you get good grades, Study at home. You can do it!!
I procrastinate also. But we all have things to work on. This would be easier to work on then going to school? Talk to your consular at school about doing your work at home and then turning it in.
Good luck
