The advice I am giving to you, is the one I have followed myself.
I always did interior decorations as a hobby. I never thought on making it my work.
After I had left my home country and moved to US, I could not work in the same field I used to work (law), which got me very depress. In order to chill my sadness, I restart to do some decorations in my own place and my friends started to ask me to help them out in their home decoration...from there, they started to ask me to help their own friends and suggested me to charge for the advice. After while, I decided to run my own decoration service and created an website offering my services, an extra cellphone number and ordered some business cards.
On my case, I made my home, my office and my "show room". If I were you, I would try it in your own home. When people wants to look good, they won't care that much how much it will cost, to where they should go or what do they should do to get the results expected. The same thing, about decoration. If something looks good, people are mostly likely to pay the price.
Good Luck!
