No! Sun is hotter than Lava .

Lava is molten rock expelled by a volcano during an eruption. Magma is molten rock below the earth's surface. Lava, when first exuded from a volcanic vent, is a liquid at temperatures from 700 °C to 1,200 °C (1,300 °F to 2,200 °F).

The outermost layer of sun's surface which is called the "PHOTOSHERE" has a temperature around 6000 °C.
As you go inside its even hotter with the core having temperature around 13,600,000 °C

You can see for yourself that the sun is hotter.than lava.

About the "melting" part :
Your finger will burn on contact with Lava not melt.

Your whole body will vaporize before reaching the sun!!

The sun is hotter. Actually no one could ever really touch the sun as the sun's heat would melt your pretty little finger before you got close to it.

Exactly yes and no:
there are spots on the sun (the very "spots") which have a much lower teperature that the remainding surface. I think even below 1000°. But with the rest being over 10.000° it does not realy matter. Sitting on the beach with an ice cream cone you are not freezing, aren't you?
