Odor Remover Recipe
1 cup water
1/2 cup baking soda
1 tsp liquid dishwasher soap
Mix well
When ready to use, mix in 1 qt 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. Work the solution into dog's coat. Keep solution out of dog's face and eyes. Rinse well with clear water. This solution has no shelf life.
In this mixture the odor is gone and the peroxide does not bleach.Put it in a spray bottle and apply where needed.

Yes, it will. It will also bleach hair if you were considering that.
I have heard tomato sauce removes skunk odor - but then you have to remove tomato sauce stains. So, I guess, if the clothes are red - try tomato sauce! Otherwise, I say buy new clothes-those are toast.

I always thought regular tomato paste was needed to get the odor of skunk out. To my knowledge, hydrogen peroxide works for getting blood out of fabrics.

I don't think it will, I've used it to get out blood, and it didn't remove the color from the garment. You could try soaking the clothes in tomato juice, that is supposed to work. I think non-chlorine bleach is made with hydrogen peroxide.
Okay, I checked Wikipedia, and it says peroxide is a bleaching agent, so don't use it on anything you can't bleach.

Tomato juice is the accepted skunk odor neutralizer. Saw it worked on a friend's dog once. It's not the worst staining juice either.

not likely, it works on stains but not well on odors..skunk is notoriously persitent,,try the old stand by--tomato juice if the clothes really need to be saved..It works for people and pets but then be careful of washing out the juice..use cold water to help keep from setting stains... maybe try a small item soaked overnight to see if it helps...good luck..

I used a paste of peroxide and baking soda on my hands. It worked.
Peroxide will bleach.
Try vinegar and baking soda in the washer, let it soak overnight first.
Tomato juice does not work and can ruin your clothes.

Well, if your clothes are dark-colored, tomato juice would do the trick. Soak them in tomato juice, then wash. Of course, for whites, you could bleach them. If the clothes are light-colored, but not white, try color-safe bleach.
