depends on why you like a place.
I love London - it may not be the greatest city - but I wouldn't live anywhere else.
I like the fact that we have 152 languages spoken on our streets, that every kind of food you can imagine is available here, that we celebrate all kinds of festivals - chinese new year, diwali etc,
That at any given time you can find a movie about to start in this town, that the choice of theatre is second to none,
that you can stand in the shadow of Canary Wharf or laze in the space of Hampstead Heath.
You can watch steel and glass rise up to create a new building while sitting on a Roman wall.
Whatever time of day or night you'll find people wandering the streets - no, not all up to no good! - yet quiet roads can lead you to a cafe where the traffic disappears.
There's always somewhere to buy a pint of milk.
Tonight I can buy tomorrows newspaper.
From here I can take a train or plane to almost ANY destination in the world.
I can travel the city by cycle, bike, car, tube, train, mono-rail or boat.
I love finding new places in London and I love travelling out of town and abroad to explore places new. But I also love to come home.
Lots of people prefer the a quieter life - some prefer a tighter community. But I don't like the constraints of small town life. I've tried it.
I can brush shoulders here with every walk of life and I can learn from them.
And despite what non-natives think, the vast majority of us all get along very well.

There are only two cities on this planet worth visiting. The first and foremost is London, where I live and the second is New York - never been there so cannot vouch for it but am told it is so.
London - when you come out of Charing X station, everything you want is right there before you. The West End, Soho and Covent Garden. In less than two hundred meters, you'll have walked through several world cultures. No city on earth is anywhere nearly so diverse.

No, not even close. It's overcrowded, over-hyped, over priced and overrated.
The transport is expensive, terrible and unreliable. People are rude. It's fairly ugly and polluted really. Many of the post-war buildings have not aged well. The place is an architectural mess. There are parts that are very rundown. It's grim-my and grim.
Maybe once upon a time, historically speaking, it might have been great, but I wouldn't even say it's a great city anymore.

We used to visit London 2/3 times a year, Take in a few shows bit of shopping, stroll round the Royal parks. Now no more, as no longer feel safe, don't like congestion charge. No, I am afraid London has no more attraction for us.

Its ONE of the greatest cities on the Earth.
Its an amazing city, full of life and culture, yes maybe it is busy and congested but most cities are. And for the people who say it is dirty it isn't really, maybe the rough areas of London, East and South yes but there are many nice areas such as Greenwich, Hampstead and Regents Park. They are gorgeous areas with loads of parks and open land. Nice shops, houses and people.
There is always something to do in London, lots of free things such as museums and walks in the park or visiting tourist spots. It is expensive but its London, one of the greatest cities on Earth and i wouldn't live anywhere else!!

No. Not fond of those little yellow signs everywhere that say "Murder happened here can you help?" Makes me feel a little uneasy somehow. Im Glad Im only ever passing through London on the bus these days. Quite a safari tour.
People who say it is a great place to live, you are out voted and must be rich enough to avoid most of what this hideous place has to offer.
