Just wondering how soon a woman starts to put on weight once she has conceived. How soon is it noticeable?

I am a nutritionist

you should not begin to gain weight till after week 14 (you don't need any extra calories till that time) unless you are retaining water (in that case 4lbs or less is acceptable)

after week 14 it is acceptable to gain .8 - 1.2 lbs each week until 42 weeks (or delivery)

total gained should never exceed 35 lbs (it puts you and the baby at risk for major health problems, some of them life long)

Most women gain about 5 pounds during the first three months, but morning sickness can actually cause some women to lose a pound or two.

The most weight gain, about 15 to 20 pounds, comes in the middle trimester with women beginning to show at about 4.5 months.

The last 10 pounds or so is generally gained in the final trimester for a total of about 30 to 35 pounds.

Well This is the average: 1pound for each month in 1st trimester, 1 pound per week for the 2nd and 3rd trimester. This is the average, but I am almost 6 month, next week ill be 24 weeks and most people dont even know that I am pregnant.. i am a small person, so I am not worrying too much.

People can start to show from anytime, from 3 month to 8/9 month.

You should only put on a few pounds in the first trimester. I put on 4 pounds in the first 17 weeks.
