The real fans can't get tickets for gigs because the touts get in there first and then procede to sell them on ebay for 3/4 times there value. I think they should introduce a system where they print names on tickets or you should have to show some kind of receipt when entering a gig.

I know i've just answered my own question but i think it's getting beyond a joke!!!!.

In reply to skidrow, i do try and get tickets when they go on sale, and sometimes i am lucky to get some, even pre-sale ones. The thing i'm getting at is the people making 3-4 times the ticket price, i don't mind paying a little extra for tickets if i was unfortunate to get some when they go on sale.

Yes it's a joke.

The photo ID system would be good. Alternatives are showing the credit card that was used to buy the tickets. Or banning the resale on ebay etc.

Another problem is that the ticket companies don't accept returns, so people who can't go have to sell them on. If they started accepting returns, people wouldn't have an excuse for the "i'm not a tout, just can't go anymore" phrase used all to often on ebay.

It's a joke, and people won't do anything about it for a while. I think they should stop selling tickets online and make people queue up like they used to!

I agree! I refuse to pay three of four times over the price of a ticket!
If whoever buys the tickets can't go, snd they do have to sell them then they should sell them for no more than face value plus postage. They should have a limit on how much they can sell a ticket for, say 15% over face value.

That way the real fans can go and see what they wanted

I wanted to get tickets to Arcade Fire, but they sold out within a short time. Predictably thet all seemed to turn up on E-bay, with ridiculous prices from people making a fast buck. There have always been ticket touts at concerts and I guess it's a farly dodgy legal area if you read the T&C on your tickets but E-bay gives this opportunity to all without having to risk anything. I seriously considered closing my E-bay account over this (still am considering actually).
One local place I see bands always asks for your name when booking tickets and it is printed on the tickets - I've never been asked my name when I go there though and see touts outside and tickets on E-Bay
Please don't but tickets off E-Bay

I love the availability of tickets on ebay. I have overpaid, but it's worth it for special events and things i otherwise wouldn't even be able to get tickets. Also i've bought them several times for the same or less price that was on the ticket, you just have to look around more. for example i got 2 fifty dollar tickets for $3.25 for both. Keep Selling!

it's bang out of order that these gimps snap up the tickets with no intention of going, still what can you do, it's up to ebay to sort it out. i paid three times the amount for a gig last year as it was sold out in an hour, so at least was able to get one. but the fact remains they are preying on desperate fans who are mug enough(like me) to pay over the odds prices. still fair play to them for being clever enough to know the lengths folk will go to.

Back in the day they had scalpers. they had to stand outside an event or advertise in the paper to sell their tickets.

Having a laugh, I make shitloads of money by flogging concert tickets, I can obviously be arsed to buy them when they first go on sale, if you can't be arsed then quit bitching.

If you need Kasier Chief tickets let me know £50 each.
