A friend confides her problems to me but when I tried to console and advise her,she vented her anger, or rather threw an outburst on me.I feel really hurt because the problem was hers and she came to me to talk.I was a listening ear and just trying to help.

Don't do anything. If she comes to you and apologizes, consider giving her a second chance. If she just stays away, you will probably run into her again after whatever she is going through, and you might pick up again where you left off. Or not. Obviously, whatever you told her struck a nerve. If it was true, she'll realize that eventually.
If this is pattern between you and her, move on. She's got problems deeper than what you can help.

sometimes that is what a friend needs, is someone they can vent on and know that there is no meaning behind it and nothing is taken personal. have you never just needed a punching bag, so to speak, when you was having a bad time? just brush it off and continue being a good friend.

i have (had) a friend just like yours. she was always negative, bitter and even when i was in a great mood, her negativity always brought me down. i finally decided that i didn't need to be around a person like that. we all have problems, but dragging other people into your own is uncalled for. don't get me wrong, if she were a close friend of mine or if i knew she was really going through something bad, i may have handeled it differently.
now that she and i don't talk, i feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
good luck to you

Sometimes people just needs to vent. i gota friend like that at work they come to ya for advice when ya give them advice they don't like to hear what ya gotta say. If she is a good friend be gente and tell her what ya think maybe she just needs someone to listen.

Maybe she didnt liked your answer to her problems. You can tell her that your sorry for any way that made her to get angry and ask her why she's angry with you. If she did, then try your best in a nice tone to explain your reasons. Hope it helps.

...I do not see anything wrong if you were just there to listen ..but it seems that she was not ready for your help..she might have ran to you for your sympathy and not for your advise..I admire you for offering a broad shoulder for a friend to cry on .. she must have realized that it is only you who can tolerate her outburst..you are indeed her friend.
