OMG! I used to watch that mouse all the time. Must have been early/mid sixties. Thanks for another fond memory of my childhood.

Absolutely! My parents used to let me stay up late on Sundays to watch the end of the Ed Sullivan show if Topo Gigio was going to be on that night. That's how I got to see the Beatles--I was waiting up for Topo Gigio!

When my kids were small, I told them about Topo Gigio, and did a fairly decent imitation of his sign-off "Good night, Eddie." My kids have never seen him, but they loved to hear me say "Good Night, Eddie."

Topo Gigio was the lead character of a childrens puppet show in Italy, a soft foam mouse with dreamy eyes and a childish personallity

Still very popular in Italy, although being "fired" :) from Zecchino d'Oro (a traditional singing competiotn for children aired by Rai Tv) a few years ago, being replaced by another mouse, Jeronimo Stilton.
Gigio easily found a new job on the biggest tv network group competitor of Rai.
Also starred in his own Japanese anime :)

I remember him. Our family loved to see that segment when he would be on the show, or rather the puppet master. He was so sweet, and kids especially loved him. We watched the Ed Sullivan show every weekend, and watched all of his acts. There's nothing like a good family orientated variety show. I loved them then, and sadly miss them now. Except, when "Do you think you have talent" is on. And that's rarely during the year.
