Wish You Were Here - pure genius

This question was never approached by me in my book 'Dark Moon, Fat Old Sun - A History of Pink Floyd' (written under the name BAMBA), as most fans would almost invariably give the answer 'Dark Side of the Moon'. As a fan in the very early days my preference would be 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn', if only because it shows the raw roots of the band, and hearing it through, lets those fans who weren't around then, really feel the raw emotion of those halcyon days of the '60s. 'Piper' IS the template from which all albums from The Floyd took their musical and vibrant measurements. To hear 'Piper' is to understand why the recently lamented Syd is so revered!

Sorry tomo, apparently the question was intended for those with at least a modicum of taste in music.
Dark Side of the Moon is not only the best Pink Floyd album ever, it's the best album ever. Period.

Well you know I've seen Pink Floyd 3 times live in concert, Animals tour 1977 was the first time well any way my Floyd pick(s) are: Wish you were here & Meddle.

I'd like to find A Nice Pair on CD though?

Ecoes could have been awesome, but no, like with most best of albums they leave off 1, 2, or 3 obvious tracks.
With that said, I would have to go with The Wall.

I used to love Pink Floyd and felt the best album was The Final Cut.
I know Roger lost his dad to the war etc. etc., but during his last tour he went off the deep end and made the whole concert a hate for President Bush.
I havent listened to any Pink Floyd music since. Ya, know, my loss, but sorry, I still believe in my country and I love America.

Ummagumma, followed by Meddle.........I was surprised (though not THAT much) to see that only one other person mentioned a Floyd album BEFORE Dark Side!
