The African dwarf frog is a shy, non-agressive little amphibian that will not get much bigger than it was when you brought it home from the pet store.
A good companion for the little frogs is a male betta. They get along quite nicely because the betta stays at the top of the tank and the frog only comes to the top for a quick gulp of air every now and then.
They will eat most any fish food. I prefer flakes for them because the flakes soften quicker and are easier for them to eat than the hard pellets. If you get a betta, buy the betta flakes called Betta Min, it is a good high protein flake and the frogs will benefit from the high protein also. The hard pellets sometimes cause digestive problems (blockages) for small fish and frogs unless you soften them by pre-soaking before feeding.
Feed only once a day and only what they will eat in 3-4 minutes. Anything more is too much and will foul the water quickly. Do not let a child feed them unsupervised.
Don't forget, the betta and the frogs are both "tropical" creatures and require steady temps in the range of 78-82 to stay healthy and happy. A light on the tank will not provide heat, only light.
Also, regular (weekly) partial (25-30%) water changes are a must to keep the water quality good and your pets healthy and happy. Good luck with your new pets!
Ohio too.

I hope the website posted by the last poster is helpful, but I must reiterate what was said first.
You should never buy an animal if you don't know how to look after it, or how big it will grow etc.
Before getting any pet, you should research it. Books, the internet, friends etc. Find out everything you can about it, then decide if it is the right pet for you before getting one. And before buying from any kind of pet shop or breeder, you should try animal sanctuaries. They are full of animals that were bought on the spur of the moment, then the novelty wore off when the owners realised that there was work involved etc.
You have not shown your daughter an example of responsible pet ownership already.

i have researched those frogs and different like it for quite some time now. and that i own one myself. I feed it frog and tadpole bites. i purchase them from petsmart. basically fee about $4 and it very last many months because you feed it so little. also basically incase you opt for to placed yet another frog in that's tank, you may settle on to provide it time to regulate through utilising a breeder information superhighway or something like that because dwarf frogs have a tendency to eat the different creatures you upload to the tank. inclusive of fish in the journey that they are sufficiently small. And it really is more desirable in all probability to eat yet another frog that's smaller then itself so including yet another one that's about an same length is ideal. solid success mutually with your new puppy. desire this helps.----------------------------------... i'd opt for to operate somethings that are major to maintain your frog alive.... Incase the walmart human beings did not aspect out this to you. that's necessary now to not placed this frog in tap water, because water out of your sink have micro organism which will kill your frog. truly if that's nicely water. you should use bottled organic spring water, not distilled water or purified water. and under no circumstances sparkling your frog tank with cleansing soap or any cleaners, basically use warmth water to rinse it solid. those frogs soak up everthing through there pores and skin so that you do not opt for to kill it through absorbing cleansing soap or a purifier also they couldn't eat fish flakes although countless human beings be counted on the different case, because they couldn't digest them right and that's going to ultimately advance a lot in thier abdomen that thier abdomen actual burst ensuing in the death of your undesirable froggy..... through how...I also own an African Clawed frog and they are unlawful to possess in some states, so that you'll opt to ascertain it truly is not what you've been bought because you probably did get it at a walmart not a authentic qualified petshop and those frogs seem quite similar..... If i imagine of something else major, i will allow you to recognize.

Although I have to agree, that if you don't know what to feed an animal, or how to take care of it... you should do research before buying it. But, I've included a website that is informative, andshould help. Good luck!
