Hi, my daughter is now 11 months but following a course of antibiotics at 5 months, she developed a red, sore patch on her nappy area and it had white (ish) patches on it too. It started as a series of pinprick dots and my GP gave her CANESTEN thrush cream which took ages to shift it. I was concerned that it wasn't clearing up properly so they then gave me CLOTRIMAZOLE and it vanished in days.
The nappy rash is redder and tends to look like the skin is opening in patches, baby will cry when weeing too as it stings.
Hope this helps!

Yes, a thrush or yeast infection has distinct bumps and a scaley look. It's a fungus, so it smells a little too.
Also, the more diaper rash cream you use, the worse a yeast infection will get.
The infection is just like athletes foot or jock itch, but baby's skin is much softer and sensitive, so don't use a powder or cream for either of those things. If you can't go to the doctor, you can just ask the pharmacist for an anti-mycosis or anti-fungal diaper cream. ALWAYS ASK THE PHARMACIST AND TELL THEM IT IS FOR A BABY.
If you can't get to a drug store right away or you can't afford the anti-fungal cream, you can help take the itch away right away by mixing 1 table spoon of vinegar with 1 quart of warm water and washing the rash with it. Don't leave it on the rash and, after you're rinsed it, dry the baby's bottom with a hair dryer (see explanation below).
My little girl has a yeast infection right now, but it is getting dramatically better both from the cream and the following three tips.
1. Don't use any baby powder, baby oil, cream or wipes except the anti-fungal cream from the pharmacy.
2. Wash the baby's bottom with water two or three times a day and then use a hair dryer on the lowest setting to dry the baby's bum, genitals and the creases between the thighs. Moisture invites the fungus to grow. It is your enemy.
3. Try to leave the baby's bum bare for at least an hour a day. Play with them on the change mat and change them more often.
The insert of the cream I use also recommends that baby's not have fruit or fruit juice while the rash is visible.
The more important things to remember are that the cream has to be used for at least two weeks, even once the rash is gone, and to keep everything as dry as possible down there.
Good luck. A rash like this is really, really uncomfortable for the baby and they will try and scratch it as soon as possible.

My daughter's terrible rash does not be cured by utilising something! She's additionally 5 months previous. I positioned her to mattress one night and not using a diaper on-- merely Balmex and a t-blouse--and lined her with a mild blanket. (of path I placed 2 water-resistant pads under her backside.) by utilising morning the rash exchange into long previous! Your female desires considered one of those minutes to air out. This works relatively properly in case you may sneak in halfway in the path of the night and alter the final water-resistant pad so she's not laying on sopping moist textile. i exchange into surprised! we will do this as quickly as a week, now, as rash prevention. Her sheet and blanket did not even get moist.
