Al Davis. It's his fault. Well not really, LA itself and the NFL and its owners have a lot to do with it too. Lets focus on Davis though....LA still had the raiders when the Rams left, but Davis moved them to Oakland back in 1995. He left LA because they wouldn't build a new stadium and he wanted out of the Coliseum since he was sharing the venue with USC and also it lacked luxury boxes and was in a dangerous neighborhood (not so much today). Other locations were considered but eventually Davis moved back to Oakland. Also the retirement of Paul Tagliabue has seemingly put the freeze on the long expected deal to LA. Here is a good article by Tony Castro of the LA daily News to elaborate......

The ultimate reason is that LA (in general) is just not that wild about football. The NFL wants a team in LA because is it a huge TV market.

The most common argument is that there is no good stadium in the area. Seems to me that the Colosseum or the Rose Bowl or Anaheim are fine places to play.

People say that the Colosseum is in a lousy neighborhood and is too big to sell out every week. According to NFL rules, if a game is not sold out, it cannot be on local TV. If the team were more popular these issues would not be of concern in the first place. The neighbors do not want more games at the Rose Bowl. If the team were more popular etc. I really do not understand what is wrong with Anaheim, the Rams used to play there. There would be no problem building a stadium from scratch if the people wanted it.

The honchos at the NFL cannot understand why LA cannot support a team while a burg the size of Green Bay has one of the more popular teams in the league. After all, the San Francisco bay area supports TWO teams. Imagine the TV money if people from the entire southern California region were as fanatical about football as Packers, Broncos, Cowboys or Redskins fans are.

From what I've learned over the years on this situation, it's because people in LA are not that supportive of Pro Football (in terms of attendance), and there is way too many other activities that people can do there!!

The NFL would love to have a team there because of its large TV Viewership Market, but they will not expand because they have an even number of teams in each division.....LA will ONLY get a team if a present team wants to move and permission from the NFL Commissioner.....

I hope I answered your Question!!

It's crazy because they are the 2nd largest market in America, but with all due respect, Los Angeles could care less about football. Hell, these are the same fans that go to Dodgers game in the 3rd inning, have a Dodger Dog, and leave after the 7th to beat traffic. Why would they need a football team?

I don't really think anyone's missed it. LA's survived without one and the rest of the league has survived without LA.

And the Raiders won a Super Bowl while in LA, which is more than the Rams can say for all of the years they were in LA.

Because no one in L.A. cares about football. They can't support a team.
