How do I select a colour for my pen tool--in Photoshop?

Please help...have no idea what I 'm doing.

The pen tool isn't for drawing/writing. Thats the brush tool. Anyway, alt+click

when you click on pen tool icon immediately the pen toolbar appears below the standard menubar. There "color:" is written near a box showing the present color of pen. Just click on the color box and you will get options to choose colors. Right. I hope your problem will be solved. All the Best.

see the over lapping squares at the bottom of the left tool bar (where you selected the brush) click on those for foreground and background colour.
