Apparently it means something more than "emotional" or even "overly emotional," because I am seeing references to a style of music, clothes, hair . . . what does all this mean? Have I been seeing it on the bus with the high school kids and not recognizing it?

There's a sort of stigma with being "emo" along the lines of being "goth". (NOTE BLACK LIPSTICK IN PIC)
It all kinda centers on the music. Emo music is sort of a part of punk rock that is "emotional", rather than, say, hard-core. There's a fashion that goes along with it, usually being sort of punk clothing, often a bit preppy. Long hair and some makeup go along with it, as well. The trademark of "emo" hair is usually bangs of some sort hanging over the eye(s).
As to whether you've seen it, probably, yes. It's become rather mainstream.

emo can b a style a type of music an emotional state or all tied into one....things that go along with it r tight pants on guys usually band t-shirts dark colors....dark places aucustic music/ screamo music but i mean its all just something that people hide behind these days or they do to try to fit in or seem "cool" most dont know where it originated there is also scene which is also a style but scene is more the style and not the lifestyle.....

There are means too many "international champions" (titlists). I truthfully have no idea who to admire as a champ seeing that men are fitting champions with out combating the satisfactory in a department. Mosley used to be rated #one million Welterweight, however Pacquiao have shyed away from him and nonetheless grew to become champ through combating Cotto for a different (same identify). Guys are fitting champions with out combating a champion in that weight elegance (Pacquiao/ Margarito). Guys are fitting champions with out combating within the weight elegance, rather combating at shrink catchweights that dehydrate the champs or competitors (Cotto/ Pacquiao, Margarito/ Pacquiao). I do not admire the champions except they're "UNDISPUTED champions, unified champions or Ring Magazine champions (seeing that the Ring calls for that the number 1 rated man battle the #two man to be champ or beat the based Ring champ). Super 6 didn't pass precisely as plan, however find it irresistible's goal of unifying the titles within the department. Boxing demands this.

its just like when ska and punk bands came out its just another fad for kids. long hiar, the type of music they listen to, skater clothes, its all "EMO". its a big deal over in England and its just now comeing to the US.

Its short for emotional rocker, kids who wear black, listen to dark music, wear there hair different ( boys long, girls have there bangs long and the back short and spikey). Cutters....

emo.. bassiclly a goth. i think its pathetic that they hate their life that much they want to show off about it really.. and yess i know many ppl talk about emos these days but really there not so bad i have an emo friend apart from the slitting of wrists his generally a great guy.

I'm no expert, but I've heard EMO is the closest to being gay you can get but still be straight. Hence the boys wearing girls pants and styling their hair all crazy, lol.
