if do you mean soccer not hte american football then i wont get any chance to a major sport in USA. currently there are lot of professional team sports that has its own audience base. football(american), basketball, baseball, hockey and individual sports like golf, tennis, NASCAR, that are more establised in the states than soccer. even beckham could not generate much new audience for the sport

Doubt very much if it will ever replace grid-iron football or basketball in the minds of Americans or the American media. These sports are ingrained from high school through college and university to the pro ranks, Howewver, I can see the day when soccer will rival ice hockey and even baseball as a major sport in North America. It won't be any time soon but I would say it will happen within the next 15-20 years.

it's hard to say, but i definitely think it will grow. obviously the effects of bringing beckham here won't be noticeable right away, but HOPEFULLY in a few years, we'll see fuller stadiums and more fans that love the game.
